About

Negotiating that space between student and professor.

Looking for something specific?

I didn’t want my posts on here to be pregnant lady complaining, but I need to vent to normal people.

I am so tired of people right now. I don’t get the obsession with people wanting to touch me. I feel like a side-show freak normally, now it’s even worse. Friends and strangers just feel the need to touch the belly and even those who are polite enough to ask permission seem mad because I’m not interested in being belly-groped. Seriously people, get something else to obsess over besides the belly. The kids are not moving (while I’m standing), so please let me enjoy a moment of peace.

My other latest annoyance has been the unsolicited advice. Thank you for sharing your horrific delivery story to warn me that doctors are just human and trying to make the best decisions for you and your baby at the time based on the information that was available to them at the time. I have no biological connection to you, so odds are that my experience will not be the same. On top of it, I am more than likely having a c-section with these two, so I’m not forseeing your nightmare. So thank you for ruining my dinner time. Next time could you just suggest some horribly sexist thing for me to buy the kids and be on your way?

Lastly, we don’t want to know the sexes of the babies. And yes that is our choice. Also, we can still plan for the babies without knowing the parts they will be born with. It’s called neutral color schemes like white and navy. Perhaps I don’t want my sons or daughters subjected to your vision of how they should present their gender to the world.

Thanks for the time/space to rant. I am grateful for a space where I am still treated like a woman with interests rather than a walking incubator.
