I’ve been fat my whole life. I’ve gotten used to ignoring the stares and comments. Today I couldn’t take it. As I was sitting at my local coffee shop some young jerk and his two friends were making comments about how the chair could sustain my weight no ignored them and put headphones in so I could keep writing. As I was about to leave I turned and thanked them for their astute observations. They seemed shocked I had heard them. I told them that it is so wonderful that they feel my body is their public property to consume and comment on. They seemed lost. Then I stood up fully and one of the geniuses notice I am pregnant. He immediately apologized and said how beautiful I looked. You can’t have it both was asshole. I just smiled and told him to go to hell.
